Memetic Horizon

N5H1, the avian bird flu, has been making its way around the world quite rapidly lately. It is said to not be lethal to ducks, who, in their migratory travel, appear to be partially responsable for the diseases fecundity. In todays National Public Radio broadcast a reporter stated that recent discovery's of the virus in Egypt may of originated from Nigeria. The mode of transportation? "[A] traveler's shoe." So, someone stepped in bird poop, went to Egypt, then a bird there interacted with this shoe? Interesting.
Not new news, but recently Richard Cheney, the U.S. Vice-President, had accidentally shot a man last weekend. At the time the two men were hunting quail, a bird native to Texas, the location of the accident. Could one infer that these two fateful friends are on the forefront of the United States' defense against defense? Could the targeting of quail be the tip of the melting iceburg that is the avant-guarde of some para-military branch of the F.D.A.?
