When the good people of Kansas, U.S.A., were debating on the future of their schools science curriculum for grade school students the stereotyping part of us may not have been too surprised, but when California also jumps in the pool we have to wonder.

The debate in question is whether to "teach" that the development of Earth, it's flora and fauna, are the creation of supernatural forces. The strength of the argument is that The Theory of Evolution is a theory. In the United States, when dealing with public schools, the curriculum is open to public debate. This can often bring out viscous conflicts as subcultures attempt to defend their identities by imposing their aesthetic values on others, for the "good of the children."

That people would want to regress to a safer meme is no surprise. In fact, there isn't any surprise here. This is an example of memecomplex propagation due to fear. Those susceptible meander about quite uncomfortable with what they see and hear but without an alternative. One day they are reminded of the the solidity, warmth and inclusiveness of their indigenous memecomplex.

One adjective for this is scary. Scary that if they are trying to do this to the community's children can you imagine what they are doing to their own? Life has enough obstacles without indoctrinating the youth with emotional abuse and setting them up for cognitive dissonance.
