When I was riding a bus and it was struck by a delivery truck I began thinking about physics and the effect of two objects colliding. We can calculate, if we know the velocity, mass and any environmental factors, the new trajectories. In a real world practical adaption of this, however, it fails to accommodate the consequences when said objects have a meaning beyond their physical composition. Were we talking about asteroids in space then there wouldn't be much to talk about. If we were talking about amoeba, again, not much to talk about. Once the objects are of species possessing multiple neurons we may record something else. The laws of physics do not change, but aren't the end of our tale. Let us say object (a) is an ant and object (b) is a brown recluse spider. Velocities change, then change again as the spider precedes to pounce on the ant. |
